Our "Classroom"

Well, we call it our "classroom" but that's really a misnomer, because we aren't a "class." We're a family learning together!

I suppose we could call it our "learning space," except that we learn in lots of other places, too.

Anyway, welcome to our workspace/reading area/homeschooling project room!

We got the great tables from a local business that was remodeling. And I bought one of our bookshelves from a certain large bookstore chain that recently went out of business.

This is my planning area. Notice that there are three sources of light--I'm not getting any younger, OK? Sometimes the kids sit here if they are doing something on the computer or if their table is too covered in junk!

This is as neat as our supply shelves will ever be, so enjoy! :) You can see lots of projects from previous years on top.

And this is our cozy new reading area! I spent a lot of time organizing and de-cluttering this summer so we could have a nice space for independent reading. We're looking forward to using this space when school starts!

Can't wait to visit your link and take a "tour" of your classroom!

I still love those chairs!

Ok, I simply must know what is on the poster next to the map (in the top picture. I can make out birds on the other one, but that one has me stumped. :)

I think you're referring to a poster with different types of rocks.

Thanks for stopping by! It's fun to visit everyone's learning spaces!

Just beautiful!! I love the reading area. If I had the space we'd have bean bags in our school room. Thanks for sharing!!

Great learning space! I especially like the way you've still got projects from past years up.

I love your learning-reading-etc room! Wow, I have yet to set up a space for us yet. I know I need to, but just not inspired yet. I really am not sure exactly what this year will look like for us, or the type of space we need. Also- I love your poster of The President! Where did you get that?

I put a link to your post on the HS board under the NBTS post. I loved those chairs so much that I tossed the hammock in the storage room and replaced the seating with 2 fuzzy chairs from Target. We like it!

Thanks for stopping by, everyone! I had no idea those chairs would be such a hit! I hope you all have better luck--one of ours has already torn. But it might be because of a certain pug who has to scratch for five minutes before sitting down.

I'm still making the rounds at the blog hop, so if I haven't "visited" your school room yet, I will soon!

I was going to comment on the awesome chairs too! My kids would abuse them right now but in another few years those would be nice to have. Love the room. I esp love the display of past projects. What a great thing. Thanks for stopping over at my blog and commenting!

your room is GREAT! thanks for stopping by my post and leaving a comment!

you are right it doesn't matter where learning happens, just that it happens.
I am also glad I am not the only one with the porcelain seated reading room!

I'm so glad you stopped by and followed! This will be our very first year homeschooling, but I feel like my "philosophy" is the same as yours with the eclectic approach and unit studies. But look at how planned out you are already! I am super impressed :)

Love your school room or learning room. We just use the dining room and it is always such a mess that I haven't posted about it:( When we get back to the states I plan on making sure the next house has a room dedicated for school:) Can your boys really sit next to each other and just read without poking/touching and generally annoying each other. Mine are still at that horrible stage so I have to sit them far apart from each other or no reading will ever get done:)

Love it! I am trying hard to get more organized- I put everything away each day- but it desperately needs a re-haul! (we're too busy doing "stuff")

Love your planning space! I love having it in the same room as the kiddos 'learning' area. Those book cases are great! I would love have some of those. The chairs...like everyone else, I love the chairs! Yeah our Lab would chew those puppies up in about 5 minutes. :)

Thanks again, everyone! This may be the record for comments on this blog!

The reading area has already been in use, as the kids are starting to hang out in the classroom (even though we aren't "officially" doing school.) I think they just like having the space to relax. And drawing crazy pictures on the dry-erase board!
